Brawl Breaks NoA Sales Records

Nintendo of America announced today that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has become the fastest-selling game in its history, selling 1.4 million units over the past week – that’s just about 2 units sold every second. 874,000 of those copies were sold on launch day, Nintendo reports. Cammie Dunaway, new vice president of sales & marketing, stated that "Super Smash Bros. Brawl has made the leap from video game to cultural phenomenon." As a comparison, the previous entry, Super Smash Bros. Melee, sold 7 million all around the world over the course of six years – the best-selling Gamecube game there was. Looks like Brawl is poised to break even more records as time goes by.

I was secretly hoping that this would sell faster than Halo 3 did, but that would be hoping against hope. These numbers are still amazing. I think this game will outsell Melee easily.
