NES: Spelunker, 500 Wii Points
This game has you traveling through a gigantic underground labyrinth, in search of an ancient pyramid and the riches within. You’ll face many obstacles, such as bodies of water, rocks, steam vents, and deadly pits, as well as contend with bats and the spirits of dead spelunkers. As you make your way through the game’s six levels, you’ll also end up collecting weapons, keys, and other various treasures. Beware, though, as this game is reported to be "unfairly difficult".
SNES: Super R-Type, 800 Wii Points
The BYDO Empire has returned, and it’s up to you and your R-9 unit to save the day. This game sports seven levels, massive bosses, various powerups, and absolutely no mid-level checkpoints. There also appear to have been some slowdown problems leading to some frustrating deaths in the original SNES version – this appears to be a shooter to get if you like a challenge.
The shooter fan in me is calling out for Super R-Type; I really think I’ve played it before. Spelunker intrigues me as well.
