Nintendo today has announced a new device that will enable users who do not already have a means to connect their products online to do so. The Nintendo Wi-Fi Network Adapter will allow users to easily connect their Wii, DS, or DS Lite devices to the internet. Although the Wii already has Wi-Fi built in, this solution looks to be made for those who have difficulties understanding how the process works.

The adapter, which is presumably produced by Buffalo considering it has AOSS, also supports the 802.11g wireless standard and WPA encryption.

Currently the device will be sold online only on the Japanese Nintendo website for 5,800 yen beginning September 18th.
Those hoping for this product to come stateside may have a long wait ahead of them as Buffalo Technology is still currently not allowed to sell 802.11g products in the US according to their website.

It’s unfortunate that this will probably not be available here in the US due to the court order against Buffalo at the moment. I know of a few people who aren’t too keen on learning how wireless setups work.
It’s good to see Nintendo providing an AOSS network solution since they promote it prominently in the DS and Wii network setup screens.
That’s good of Nintendo. I know a lot of people who are not tech savvy enough to connect their Wiis or DS’.
