Wiikly Update: 2/16/09

In addition to two new downloadable games, the Wiikly Update this week came with a rather cryptic hint of things to come. Repeated in its entirety:

"In other news, the Wii-kly Update has a fun surprise coming soon for all our fans. We can’t tell you the secret just yet but maybe we’ll offer you some hidden clues. From AZ to NC, if you’re a fan, your applause could rattle your walls, windows, door. You might enjoy this news whether you live in a brick house or Vanderbilt dorm. Even people living along Route 286 in rural Pennsylvania ought to be excited. It’ll feel like a bunch of birthday greetings and, really, who could ask for more? But that’s about all we can say for now, so be sure to check future Wii-kly Updates."

WiiWare: Evasive Space, 1,000 Wii Points

Dr. Dark Matter and his space pirates have stolen the Constellation Stones from the skies, and Konki, the Stellar Guardian, has to go in and take them back. In this shooter game from the rather prolific creators of The Conduit, you’ll use the Wii Remote’s pointer to control your ship through caves, space stations, asteroid fields, and other locales in the game’s 20 levels. Beat the time, or complete your collection goal, to proceed as you fight off space worms, turrets, and otherenemies.

NES: Life Force, 500 Wii Points

This Gradius spin-off puts you back into the Vic Viper and tasks you with destroying hordes of alien enemies. As you blow away enemies, you can upgrade your ship with your choice of weapons, shields, or speed. A massive boss awaits at the end of each of the game’s six levels – take it on by yourself or with a friend.

I have no idea what that clue means; it doesn’t really sound like the straight-from-SD play we’ve been waiting for. In other news, still patiently waiting for Darius Twin.
