Wiikly Update: 3/9/09

WiiWare: Gradius Rebirth, 1,000 Wii Points

Possibly bitten by the Mega Man 9 bug, Konami has brought about a new entry in their famed Gradius series, with old-school SNES graphics to match. Play through levels by blasting away enemies, collecting weapons and managing your arsenal, and once you’ve done that, upload your scores to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to see how you rank up.

Master System: Alex Kidd: the Lost Stars, 500 Wii Points

In this old-school platformer, Alex Kidd must travel across six worlds defeating enemies in order to collect the twelve missing signs of the zodiac. That’s all the information the press release gave. Seriously.

Perhaps Mega Man 9 has started a trend? If so, I hope it can continue to the point where we get some new entries from seriously classic franchises… like Sonic! Boy, that would be nice, a new proper Sonic title without swords and werehogs and such.
