E3 Impressions: Eidos
Eidos was my second appointment this year, and I wasn’t super excited for it, either. The only game for a Nintendo system they had was Mini Ninjas, a Wii/DS title targeted mostly at kids. There is some depth to it, but probably if you’re older than 12, you may not get that much out of it. However, if you do fit into the 6-12 age group, you’ll probably love this game. It’s a great action adventure title with some fairly original elements. One element I really liked was the ability to ’posses’ animals. You could use your ninja magic to take control of any animal you pass nearby and use them to scout out the enemy. After that, the fighting seemed simple but fluid and intuitive. Look for this title in the third quarter of this year.
Sort of by accident I was shoved into the showing of the Just Cause 2 demonstration. This is one of the more recent additions to an ever growing list of reasons to get an Xbox 360. I won’t go into much detail since I’m supposed to talk about Nintendo stuff, but basically the grappling hook and the absolutely MASSIVE island for you to explore make me weak in the knees.
And while we’re on the subject of Eidos, Square Enix now owns Eidos. Isn’t that bizarre? I wonder what they’re planning to do with this new acquisition. Maybe they’ll finally make a good Tomb Raider. Perhaps give it the full RPG cinematic treatment. Mmmm… wouldn’t that be nice.
