Japan has awarded Nintnedo icon Shigeru Miyamoto the Lifetime Achievement award. Miyamoto has done so much for gaming that it’s almost mind boggling when you think about it. Donkey Kong was a smash hit in the arcades and featured Jump Man, who would later become Mario. Super Mario Bros. is also a very important game in that it gave video games the jumpstart they needed after the crash of 1983.
Now with his heavy involvement with the Wii and DS, Miyamoto continues to inovate. He has brought a whole new crowd into the world of video games with these two systems. Having just turned 57 years-old, he’s now at the age where many would be considering retirement. However, there is no indication that Miyamoto has any such desire to stop doing what he obviously loves. Here’s to hoping that our lovable Shiggy still has many years of creativity left to give the world.
