The Smithsonian American Art Museum will be featuring an exhibit in 2012 called The Art of Video Games. This exhibit will show the history of video games throughout the years and how they have changed. In addition to that, the official site also said
It will include multimedia presentations of game footage, video interviews with developers and artists, large prints of in-game screen shots, historic game consoles, and a selection of working game systems for visitors to play. In addition, the public will be asked to assist with the selection of materials for the show by choosing the games that they feel best represent particular moments in the overall timeline.
That sounds pretty impressive. It’s nice to see that video games are starting to be taken more seriously. The site says that the exhibit will run from March 16 – September 9th.
I’m not sure about everyone else, but I will definitely be making it a point to check that out while it’s there.
