Gaijin Games have recently released the first gameplay video of their upcoming WiiWare game Bit.Trip Runner. Like the other games in the Bit.Trip series, Bit.Trip Runner will be focused on rhythm gameplay, while providing the simple platforming gameplay that is always entertaining. From the trailer, you can see that players will control Commander Video, who will be running constantly. By the looks of it, the controls are rather simple, letting players either jump or slide to avoid obstacles.
The game will play as a 2D platformer, but there will be some levels that boast 3D graphics, particularly in the surroundings and obstacles. The soundtrack will also be written and performed by the chiptune punk band Anamanaguchi, who are famous for their 8-bit music (played with a hacked NES.) They produce some interesting tunes, blending 80′s video game music with the whole band setup (guitar, drums, bass), so it’ll be interesting to hear how this soundtrack will be like.
After seeing the trailer (and listening to Anamanaguchi), I think I might get this game when it comes out. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a good platformer, especially good looking/sounding ones.
