Nintendo Download: 7/12/10

Pop balloons, play cards, learn French, or beat someone up.

DSiWare: Primrose, 200 Nintendo Points

Primrose is a slower-paced puzzle title, with no time-limits and no random objectives or constraints. You need to group tiles together with different-colored tiles in specific ways; as tiles disappear, surrounding ones will change color, potentially setting off major chain reactions. The game gets more difficult as you go along, but not any faster.

DSiWare: Pop Island – Paperfield, 200 Nintendo Points

This new Pop Island game offers a couple new game modes, including Capture the Flags and Magic Shooters. Take control of one of several vehicles designed for land, sea or air. With DS Download Play, you can play with up to eight people.

DSiWare: Music On: Retro Keyboard, 200 Nintendo Points

This application is a multi-functional keyboard. Use a number of computer-esque or musical sounds reminiscent of the 1980′s, and add in other instruments, an integrated sequencer, user-definable chords and more.

DSiWare: 24/7 Solitaire, 500 Nintendo Points

In case you didn’t have enough Solitaire yet, here’s some more: play Freecell, Klondike, Spider, Pyramid, and several varieties of Peg Solitaire. Track your stats, and save a round in mid-game.

DSiWare: 4 Travellers – Play French, 800 Nintendo Points

Following up on their Spanish effort, AGENIUS Interactive lets you play a board game with friends and family, in order to help yourself learn French. The game contains more than 240 well-chosen words and is suitable for all ages.

WiiWare: Toribash, 1,000 Nintendo Points

This fighting title lets you make the moves; whether you make them in real-time or create them in a fighter editor is unclear from the press release. Save replays and share them with your friends, or go online to battle opponents around the world.

WiiWare: Balloon Pop Festival, 800 Nintendo Points

Point the Wii Remote at the balloons, link them, then pop them to create awesome combos; as the balloons pop, they’ll release cool graphical confetti to represent each month. Get as many points as you can before the balloons touch bottom and you lose.

The Toribash thing looks interesting; I’d like to see more about how it works. In any case, there’s not many downloadables blowing me away, while there are several older games I’d love to see on VC still.
