Rock Band 3 Gets Release Date, Pre-Order Bonuses

When can you rock out with your real fake guitar?

After a leak onto the general Internet, Harmonix has decided to go ahead and confirm the release date for Rock Band 3: October 26, 2010. The game will cost $59.99 on Wii, as opposed to the standard $49.99, and $29.99 on the Nintendo DS.

Additionally, Amazon.com and Wal-Mart have confirmed that they will offer special bonuses for those who reserve the Wii version of the game; Amazon.com is offering an exclusive in-game guitar to those who pre-order, and Wal-Mart buyers can receive a $10 eGift card. There are other bonuses, including free downloadable tracks from GameStop, but they don’t apply to the Wii version of the game.

I’m a bit bummed that the free downloadable tracks won’t work on Wii; what is it about Nintendo’s infrastructure that disallows this? Whatever it is, it needs a bit of fixing for the next generation.
