Have you ever been playing a Pokemon game and found yourself thinking “wow, there are really too many Pokemon, I wish we could start over with all new ones in the(via Andriasang) , the Pokemon team at GameFreak was thinking much the same thing. As a part of their desire to make this Pokemon game feel like your first time all over again, every Pokemon in Black and White will be totally new.
It’s a pretty drastic decision, as I’m sure many of you readers out there have a “go-to” team that you like to use. Personally, the very thought of not having Scyther is nearly enough to give me a panic attack. That said, a lot of the sense of discovery diminished as releases continued. Sure there would be a couple of new Pokemon here and there, but for the most part you knew what to expect.
According to other comments made in the blog, new Pokemon might not be the only change. One comment, “You don’t even know the type of the Pokemon, so you’re surprised at the skills”, seems to imply there could be new Pokemon types. There aren’t a ton of elements left unused, but maybe in the future we’ll be seeing plastic type, perhaps?
Such a decision is sure to be divisive in the fanbase. So, sound off in the comments: does this news excite or anger you? Maybe a little of both?
Honestly I think it's a good idea, if only because I find getting every Pokemon in each incarnation to be an increasingly laborious task (obviously) with little to no sense of satisfaction nor purpose. I just hope I won't suddenly be given the National Pokedex and have to get the other 5,000 Pokemon.
I just recently got all 493 Pokemon in Diamond, and I was very much planning on transferring them to Black when the game allowed me to. I really doubt that the game won't offer any kind of National Dex. I think the new Pokemon only refer to the main quest and it'll open up to the rest after the defeat of the E4.
