New Wave Race: Blue Storm Easter Egg Found – 9 Years Later

A new, hilarious easter egg has been discovered in a nine-year-old Gamecube game. But do you really want to activate it?

It’s not often that a new easter egg is uncovered nearly a decade after a game’s release, but it’s always cool to find a brand new reason to boot up a game that’s been gathering dust for years.

Then again, maybe this time you don’t want to. To unlock the easter egg, you have to go into the audio menu and enter a specific code. The result? A new announcer that derides and insults you at every turn. Pick up a boost? “Yeah, like a boost is gonna help you.” Lose a race? “You don’t have an inferiority complex, you’re just inferior.”

Seriously, this guy is a jerk. But if you want to unlock him anyway, here are the instructions, courtesy of Game Life:

  • Go to Options and Audio Settings.
  • There’s a waveform display at the bottom that changes if you press the Z Button-tap Z until the waveform looks like vertically rising fog.
  • On the D-Pad, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, X, Z. You’ll hear an audio cue if you did it right.
  • Back out to the front end.
  • Start a race. Pick the first guy.

Congratulations! You’re now ready to be verbally assaulted and hopelessly humiliated by a disembodied voice. Enjoy!
