Nintendo Conference 2010 Reveals 3DS Launch Information

A flood of Nintendo 3DS information was released last night during the Nintendo Conference 2010 as well as two videos.

Although the Nintendo Conference 2010 was for the Japanese media, there were several details about the system to come out of the event.  A summary of the basic system information has been provided below.

Nintendo also announced there will be a Virtual Console for the 3DS that will include Game Boy/Game Boy Color games in the library available for purchase.  A selection of the Game Boy titles will also be setup with 3D.     The company also released a video showing off some of the features the system will have including Mii creation, tag mode without the system being on, and the activity log.  The concept video can be seen below.

Games also were announced at the conference including Mega Man Legends 3 and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D which is separate from the previously announced Resident Evil: Revelations.  A short trailer was shown and can also be seen below.

Nintendo also noted that there will be a way to transfer your purchased DSiWare games to the 3DS.  It was noted that not all games will be able to be ported to the new handheld and that the user would have limited amounts of transfers.   The Home button was touched on briefly as well and will enable users to turn off the wireless communications even while players are in the middle of a game.

Other news in the form of games that was unrelated to the Nintendo 3DS was released including a new Kirby game for the Nintendo DS that uses stylus controls.

  • The Last Story for Wii to be released in Japan on January 27th
  • Fatal Frame 2 remake for Wii
  • Rhythm Tengoku for Wii
  • New Kirby DS game
  • A new Pokemon DS title that uses a keyboard which will be bundled together

Mr. Iwata has also confirmed the that Wii Motion Plus is real during the conference.
