Nintendo of Europe announced that the game would hit Europe this year, but did they slip and reveal more?
Announced today for Europe is the Super Mario All-Stars – 25th Anniversary Edition for Wii, the same that Japan will also be getting. It includes Super Mario All-Stars along with a music CD and a booklet on the history of Mario. If you live in Europe, you’ll be able to get your hands on it December 3rd.
An image of what is included in the set was released and shows the Super Mario Bros. box art for the US region. The box art for Europe was different in shape, color, and artwork as shown above.
There is no official word on whether or not this will be coming stateside as of yet.
It’s just speculation at this point, but why would they use box art from the US if they didn’t intend to release it here?

There were several versions of the European boxart (such as the one found on the European SMAS game select screen or this one). All that extra text on the box in the Super Mario History photo compared to the US version and the presence of double seals indicates that it's probably a European version.
Dear NintendoGal. I know for a fact that europe had the box on the left in use too. Heck, my mario had the art on the left an I'm from europe so I wouldn't base it solely on the art used.
(And I still hope people in the USA will also get a chance to nab this mario anniv box.)
This is why this was speculation and not fact and I say in the post as such, but thank you for bringing it to the front!
I believe that the NA Boxart became the European art later on as my pack in European NES came with supermario BROS AND DUCK HUNT dual game cartridge pack in and it had the pixel mario art not the original European art.
