A gaming icon makes a long-awaited return, as well as a new franchise from the same creator.
DSiWare: Ivy the Kiwi? Mini, 500 Nintendo Points
Little Ivy is trapped in her eggshell, and without her wings she can only walk where she needs to go. In this new title from Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka, you’ll use the DSi stylus to draw vines and help Ivy collect the feathers and get to the end of each stage, avoiding enemies and gathering boulders to help you advance. This bite-sized version of the full game includes over 50 levels.
DSiWare: Datamine, 500 Nintendo Points
Thanks to your incompetence, all of the data in the history of mankind is gone, and you need to get it back using your yellow submarine. Fire bubbles at the data to split it off and capture it; break through encrypted data, or use powerups like fusion bubbles to better make your way through the game’s 100 stages.
DSiWare: G.G. Series Super Hero Ogre, 200 Nintendo Points
This action game puts you in the shoes of a superhero, beating up bad guys. Defeat them with Hero Attacks to fill your Hero Gauge, and once it’s full enough you can unleash a combo of Superhero Attacks. Take out all the enemies to summon the boss at the end of each level.
WiiWare: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I, 1,500 Nintendo Points
The blue blur is finally back in another 2D adventure. After saving Angel Island and destroying the Death Egg, Sonic heads off to parts unknown, while Eggman chases after in furious pursuit, wanting to destroy Sonic once and for all. Zip through all new levels and face off against improved versions of classic enemies and bosses, in this title that combines classic Sonic gameplay with a couple of new features like the Homing Attack.
WiiWare: Triple Jumping Sports, 500 Nintendo Points
In the same vein as Triple Throwing Sports, The Code Monkeys Ltd. brings us Triple Jumping Sports. Compete in Long Jump, High Jump or Pole Vault, using the controller to control your jump’s speed, height, angle and distance.
I got my hands on Sonic 4 for Wii at E3 and I enjoyed what I played, though the Homing Attack is a little awkward. It’s still a fun game, though, and I’m buying it like nobody’s business.
