A downloadable Need for Speed game leads up a cast of five new titles this week.
DSiWare: Need for Speed Nitro-X, 800 Nintendo Points
Race in one of 18 supercars such as the Pagani Zonda R, Porsche Carrera GT or Lamborghini Gallardo in this touch-controlled, high-speed racing game. Play on one of 16 tracks, or 30 if you count reversable tracks; for an added twist, try out Super Pursuit Mode and play as one of six cop cars chasing people down. Use the DSi Camera to create and edit your own tag and plaster it on the environment. You can also take on up to three friends in local multiplayer.
DSiWare: Go Fetch!, 500 Nintendo Points
Use your stylus to control a puppy tasked with fetching a thrown ball. Carefully navigate around obstacles on at least seven stages in an attempt to get the best fetch time. Try not to knock anything over, as you’ll have to put it back; don’t get too close to any distractions either, like cats. You can play as one of many breeds, each with a unique appearance and unique attributes.
DSiWare: 21: Blackjack, 200 Nintendo Points
This blackjack gives you control over a number of game options, including splitting options, payouts, and the number of decks used. The game also tracks stats in a very detailed manner.
WiiWare: Derby Dogs, 500 Nintendo Points
This game lest you breed, raise, and feed your own dogs; unlike a certain Nintendo property, however, your dogs are being bred for racing. Enter races in order to win titles and prize money, which can be used at the dog shop on things like meals or doghouses. You can even race your dog online with dogs from other players.
WiiWare: Triple Running Sports, 500 Nintendo Points
We’ve seen throwing and jumping, now try your hand at Triple Running Sports. Events available include Sprints (100-meter and 400-meter), Hurdles, and a 1,500-meter Race. Players will have full control over their pace, but they’ll also have to deal with hurdles and the final mad dash to the finish line.
There seems to be a major target-audience disparity between Need for Speed and everything else this week. On the one hand, racing fast cars. On the other hand, doggies.
