Nintendo soared through Black Friday season with great sales.
In the weeks leading up to the Thanksgiving weekend – particularly Black Friday – Nintendo released two new, special edition Nintendo DSi consoles just for the hectic weekend. Earlier in the month, Nintendo also released a limited edition red Wii console, which was bundled with the new Wii Remote Plus and New Super Mario Bros. Combine these two together and Nintendo was bound to see a huge increase in their sales performance.
Nintendo sold over 1.5 million units during the week of November 21 to November 27. This total encompassed 900,000 Nintendo DS consoles (across the DS family) and 600,000 Wii consoles sold. This is sure to give them a nice boost to keep them first in sales for the year in the United States and most likely topping the sales for the month.
Did anyone get one of the limited edition systems? I wished I had gotten the green DSi seeing as how my DS lite is practically falling apart.
