Nintendo Download: 12/6/2010

Two classic arcade titles join six other downloadables this week.

This week’s free downloadable demo is for the WiiWare title Fluidity.

DSiWare: Daijoro! Samurai Defenders, 800 Nintendo Points

Enemy legions are coming to destroy your castle; place your troops, be they spears, cannons, archers or otherwise, and fight off the invading armies. There are six castles to defend, along with several degrees of difficulty. Play in Score Attack, Normal Mode, Random Mode or play Versus against a friend.

DSiWare: Space Ace, 800 Nintendo Points

From the creator of Dragon’s Lair comes another animated video game, Space Ace. You are Ace, a heroic space pilot trying to stop the evil Commander Borf from conquering the planet. Indicate the proper directions or action buttons at the right time in order to keep Ace out of danger and defeat your enemies.

DSiWare: Rytmik Rock Edition, 200 Nintendo Points

This new version of Rytmik lets you put together your own rock songs. This title contains 130 audio samples for you to put together into basic audio clip building blocks; from there you can compose your own songs. You can combine up to 128 audio clips on four tracks to create your masterpieces, or listen to one of 10 pre-made compositions.

WiiWare: Fluidity, 1,200 Nintendo Points

The magical encyclopedia Aquaticus has been tainted by the evil Influence ink, and it’s up to you, a small blob of water, to save the day. Twist and turn your Wii Remote to turn the world, taking advantage of gravity and water’s fluid properties in order to get past puzzles and defeat enemies. Collect Rainbow Drops to open new worlds and gain new abilities, and find the hidden puzzle pieces to open up special timed challenge rooms.

WiiWare: Racers’ Islands – Crazy Arenas, 600 Nintendo Points

In this bout of Racers’ Islands, the arenas are crazy instead of the racers. This title has five racing-related challenges to play, including ascending a mountain, stealing a golden totem, and a paintball contest. Drive with one hand and aim with the other in some of these events.

WiiWare: Fireplacing, 500 Nintendo Points

Turn your TV into a calming fireplace. You can choose Automatic mode to start the fireplace up right away, or else you can prepare the wood and light the fire yourself, stoking it every so often.

Arcade: Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando, 800 Nintendo Points

You are Super Joe, an elite commando tasked with… killing bad guys. Shoot and grenade your way through the enemy ranks in this classic game that spawned a genre.

Arcade: Sonson, 800 Nintendo Points

This side-scrolling adventure bills itself as the original adventures of the Monkey King. Jump from level to level in order to get proper access to your enemies and shoot them out.

I’m glad to see the return of arcade games, though it has been quite a while. I do enjoy shooters, so I might have to look into Commando.
