Nintendo has pulled the curtain on two of the new system’s most important details.
When I logged onto the computer today, I was pleasantly surprised and hyped with the new details about the 3DS price, which were announced by NOA’s own Reggie Fils-Aime today. However, the price might be some wallet-breaking, confusing news for some of you. The handheld has been announced to be released on March 27th for the price of 249.99USD, which is the same price of a Wii at launch.
Reggie also said that “focus groups consistently felt that the features included in the system warranted a price as high as $300 – $400, however Nintendo chose to keep the system price at $249.99.”
The sad thing is, I know I’ll be running around getting the money for this and will pay the price simply because it’s Nintendo, but it’s really steep for a handheld–this better be worth the money, Nintendo.
I'm thinking I might hold off on buying the 3DS for a little bit. Maybe wait until it has some more titles out. I have other things I want to buy in the meantime, like a Squier controller.
Exactly what I'm doing at the moment, I don't want to spend the same amount of money for a launch Wii on a handheld system…I'll wait until the price goes down.
I really wouldn’t complain about the price. That’s the same as the cost of a PSP when that first came out, so it’s really not surprising. Keep in mind the Wii was, and is, an extremely cheap home console.
I'll be taking a wait and see approach at the moment, but I do want one.
