Nintendo Download: 1/24/11

Fly, dig, roll, fish, fight and play poker.

There are two free downloadable WiiWare demos this week: Furry Legends and Fish’em All!

DSiWare: Airport Mania: Non-Stop Flights, 200 Nintendo Points

The WiiWare management title makes the jump to DSiWare. You’ve got an infinite number of flights to manage and schedule; send incoming planes to a runway and gate to drop off their passengers, then assign them a runway so they can get back in the air. Try to get the highest score you can.

DSiWare: Rocks N’ Rockets, 500 Nintendo Points

In this Missile Command-inspired title, you have to use rockets to protect the cities of Earth from falling meteors. Collect power-ups as you destroy meteors in over 100 levels.

DSiWare: Digger Dan & Kaboom, 500 Nintendo Points

Digger Dan loves to dig for gems, and he’s found a ton of them that he wants to acquire in this puzzle game. Guide Dan through the game’s levels looking for treasure, as well as his gopher Kaboom.

DSiWare: Ante Up: Texas Hold’em, 500 Nintendo Points

This poker game uses special algorithms designed to generate a natural deal of the deck. Play high-stakes poker against several computer characters, each one with a distinct personality; there are twelve characters in all.

WiiWare: Jam City Rollergirls, 1,000 Nintendo Points

Play as one of five real-life roller derby teams in WiiWare’s first roller derby game. Play as an existing skater, or build your own roller derby player from the ground up and watch them level up as the season progresses. Skate on one of five different tracks by yourself or with a friend.

Arcade: 1942, 800 Nintendo Points

This 1984 shooter from Capcom is hailed as a classic. Take your biplane and shoot up the enemy forces in this title that spawned a multitude of clones.

Arcade: Black Tiger, 800 Nintendo Points

This title from 1987 is an action-adventure platformer. You play the role of a powerful barbarian, navigating huge levels, defeating enemies and taking on massive bosses. As you play, you can upgrade your character with a power-up and inventory system.

Black Tiger looks like it could be a fun time; I’m glad that Capcom is continuing to support the Virtual Console. Of course, when the 3DS is released I’m sure support for classic portable games will explode.
