GameStop over the weekend hosted the Dragon Quest VI Launch Event at their Palo Alto, CA store where series creator Yuji Horii was on hand to autograph various merchandise. Nintendo also revealed the winner of the Twitter contest, Lawarence L. who was flown to the location to meet Mr. Horii.
For those who weren’t lucky enough to attend the event and want to purchase the game, Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation launches today for Nintendo DS.

Those shirts are pretty awesome! I wonder how many folks managed to snag one.

Awesome event! I was fortunate enough to be able to make it there. The free swag was nice – T-shirts, posters, and raffles for Slime plushies (!!!), but more importantly, it was a chance at meeting a true gaming icon. Yuji Horii was also a super nice guy. Although he was only supposed to stay to sign for the first 50 people in line, he actually stayed the full 2 hours and signed for as many people as he could. People in line around me came from all over the area, from local to a 2 hour drive from Sacramento.
Unfortunately, as I made it towards the front of the line, Mr. Horii had to leave to catch a plane. He went out the back door and on a whim, I ran around back and was able to catch him in the back alley, where he stopped and signed my copy of DQ9 by a garbage bin! Awesome experience and happy ending for me, thanks to all the Gamestop staff and Mr. Horii and his group from SQE for being so gracious and taking the time to meet some of his lifelong fans.
Oh, and get Dragon Quest VI, it is a GREAT GAME!!!
LOL someone is selling Yuji Horii's autograph on ebay
