One single father on the social news aggregator Reddit is smiling at the kindness of another user. That’s because one user, “underwear_model” or Ben, decided to send Stephen and his five year old daughter Jayda a Nintendo Wii. It all happened with a simple question on the site that Stephen asked, which was which system to get, Nintendo DS, DSi, or DSi XL, on the cheap for his daughter on the online classified website Craigslist. Stephen was trying to work overtime hours, which were canceled, and use the money earned to purchase a system for Jayda who is excelling in Pre-Kindergarten so much that they’ve had to put her on Kindergarten materials to keep her interest. When Ben saw this, he jumped into action and send Stephen and Jayda a Wii.
Currently Stephen is looking into options for games, but is considering many of the Mario games, Nickelodeon Fit, and Cooking Mama. He’s also open to suggestions anyone might have that would be appropriate for him and his five year old.

Games recommended to Stephen:
Ni Hao Kailan (from Nickelodeon). There are a couple of Nick Games also from Dora The Explorer and Go Diego Go!, examples are Dora The Explorer Saves the Crystal Kingdom, and Go Diego Go! Safari Rescue. Sesame Street published a few weeks ago titles with Elmo and Cookie Monster, to play with numbers and the alphabet. Also don’t forget about Animal Crossing. There is also a kids version of “Just Dance” that includes popular songs and some from The Wiggles and TV Shows like Yo Gabba Gabba. There are plenty of options there, and I do not include any Nintendo title.

1. Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Lets you draw your own character and its fairly easy)
2. Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey (This one is perfect for kids, since you cannot die easily)
3. uDraw (it’s a drawing tablet. A bit pricey but most kids love it. Comes with games)
4. Chuck E Cheese’s Party Games (Its a bit low-budget but kids don’t seem to mind. Its fun)
5. Star Wars and Batman Legos games (They’re fun and rather easy for kids)
6. Scooby Doo! First Frights (It plays like the Star Wars and Batman Legos games. Also has co-op)

I can’t think of any appropriate recommendations. But do remember there are also games on the Wii Shop you can get. Some good decent Virtual Console and WiiWare games on the cheap. The LostWinds games (Wiiware) are quite charming.
Still, I don’t much believe in “good samaritans” or the “kindness of strangers.” Might have better luck in catching sight of that elusive unicorn.
