People’s Court Deals With Wii Modchip Case

A recent episode of The People’s Court featured a case with questionable legal application of a Wii.  The plantiff, Joseff Ben David, claims Eyal Levinshtein, his neighbor, installed a modchip in his Wii and then changed the price of the system.  Joseff wanted the chip installed to be able to download games much cheaper, though the method was not detailed in the court.  After having the system for a month with it not working quite right, Joseff decided not to pay Eyal for the work done and instead wanted it removed.  Eyal denied him at first, but then took his system to supposedly remove the chip.  Instead, he held the system ransom until he was paid the money he felt he was owed.

The entire case can be seen below.

Wow at all the naive folks in the court room, including the judge for not knowing what Joseff meant by downloading games.  I suppose though that that’s a good and bad thing.
