If you don’t live around the Nintendo 3DS Demo Pod locations and have a Best Buy in your area, you might be able to check out the system. The Best Buys in certain locations has Nintendo 3DS kiosks that feature Pilotwings Resort. They’re not in all stores yet and there isn’t a tool to track down where they all are. What is available for tracking however is the midnight launches the company will be doing for 3DS. If you visit their site here and click on Midnight Store Openings, you’ll be able to see if there’s a launch in your area.

On the way back up to Washington, there were two out of three Best Buys that had the kiosks. With that, I think there’s a good chance there’s one in your neck of the woods!
Today, I went to a best buy and tried out a 3DS there and was shocked — The 3D effect is absolutely amazing. Nintendo did it so well. I urge you to buy this console. Fortunately for me, it was a complete demo and not just Pilotwings, and I was able to get into the home menu and try out some of the other features. Other than upgraded graphics, 3DS sound is nothing new. The Mii maker is accurate at times, but it always seems to get the mouth a bit off. Rather than jumping out at you, the environment goes inwards, with the focal point of the game being the most towards you. It’s like seeing into a cardboard box a good 2-4 inches. Simply amazing!
