If you want to be apart of the midnight launches for Nintendo 3DS, you have two options open to you.
The first is Best Buy which will be having “midnight store opening events” in certain areas.

They’re also home to the big launch event tonight that begins at 9PM (EST) in New York (Best Buy in Union Square) where Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime will be in attendance along with a performance from The HOTcakes.
Retailer GameStop will also be opening many of their stores at midnight for those wanting to get the system as well. They have a locator for stores nearest you that are featuring midnight launches.
