You’d better bring your A-game to your plastic instruments this week, because Harmonix is pulling out all the stops. Power metal band DragonForce is making their Rock Band 3 debut, with one of the songs being “Through the Fire and Flames” which famously destroyed gamers in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock; in Rock Band 3, you now have the option to play the blistering solo on Pro guitar. Three classic tracks from Jefferson Airplane, Santana and Blood, Sweat and Tears are also arriving as part of the Days of Peace Pack 01. All tracks cost 200 Nintendo Points and are downloaded in-game, though the Days of Peace Pack 01 can be downloaded for 550 Nintendo Points.

Through the Fire and Flames is one of the most unforgiving things you’ll see in a rhythm game. I think the guitar part has actually gotten worse for Rock Band 3, and let’s not even get into Pro guitar. If you want a real challenge, this is a real challenge.
