Pokémon is clearly on the rise, according to the newest sales information: each individual version sold over a million copies and sold better than any other game on the list, which is pretty ridiculous. Why is Nintendo not going for a Pokémon MMO again?
The real question, of course, is how well the 3DS sold; as seen above, the system moved about 400,000 units in its opening week, which are some very impressive numbers for normal sales, but do they measure up to a typical console launch? USA Today caught up to Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, and asked him what he thought of the 3DS launch. Reggie said that Nintendo was quite happy with the 3DS launch, and wasn’t concerned with the lack of selling out across the country; he also noted that the recent tragedies in Japan should not affect production.
