Earlier today, Nintendo announced a partnership with JetBlue to bring an interactive Nintendo 3DS grandstand to the famed Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.
Terminal 5 is already well-known for its numerous food and retail outlets, and now from April 22 to May 30, passengers will be able to try out the Nintendo 3DS while they wait for their flights. The games on display will include Pilotwings Resort, Steel Diver, nintendogs + cats, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, Asphalt 3D and Madden NFL Football. Passengers can also try out AR Games, look at 3D photos and videos, create their own Miis, or win prizes in Nintendo’s daily giveaways.
“By teaming with JetBlue to bring Nintendo 3DS demo stations into JFK airport, we will give consumers an especially fun way to pass the time while they wait to board their flights,” said Charlie Scibetta, the senior director of Corporate Communications at Nintendo of America.
I like Nintendo’s brand of marketing. They’ll pick out a seemingly random but popular place to get lots of views, and word of mouth spreads from there. It seems to be working pretty well for them so far.
