Nintendo Confirms New Console To Be Shown At E3

The rumors that recently surfaced about a new Nintendo console have been officially confirmed; Nintendo has announced this week that in the wake of Wii’s success, selling 86.01 million units around the world, they will be launching a new console in 2012. The announcement mentions that there are no sales figures for the system in their Fiscal Year 2012 forecast, which implies that the system will not be available until April 2012 at the earliest. The system will have a playable model at this year’s E3 Expo from June 7 – 9; stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

With the rumors coming from so many sources yet still so consistent, I figured it was only a matter of time before confirmation arrived. From what we hear, there’s still more surprises to come at E3, though, so we’ll be keeping you updated.
