E3 2011 Impressions: PDP

Unfortunately this year, PDP didn’t have much to show except products behind fancy glass that were impressively lit.  This made it impossible to get hands-on impressions of anything Nintendo related.  I was however, able to get my hands on the new Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight Stick.

Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight Stick (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3)

For those who love the arcade feel comes the Mortal Kombat Klassic Fight Stick.  Although there is a similar fight stick available for the newly released Mortal Kombat game on Xbox 360 and PS3, it provides a more modern motif to go with the game.  This new stick is a throw back to the original arcade cabinet of Mortal Kombat.  It’s big and gives you plenty of room to hold the directional joystick however you’d like.  The buttons when pressed made a satisfying click and the joystick itself feels strong enough to withstand long nights of deadly tournaments.  I will say that the surface looks to attract a few fingerprints.  Those who are neat freaks may want to keep the cleaning supplies handy.

Included with this stick will be a DLC code for Mortal Kombat Arcade Kompilation.  This collection will include the arcade versions of the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.  Added to these will be online play, leaderboards, and achievements/trophies.

For $129.99, I can see the diehards who loved playing at the arcade looking forward to this.  With the included DLC code, it rounds out the value considering the quality of the product.
