Nintendo Officially Drops 3DS Price


Today Nintendo has announced they will be dropping the price of the Nintendo 3DS to $169.99. The price drop will become effective August 12th. For those who have purchased the system before that date, Nintendo has announced the introduction of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program. With the program, those who connect to the Nintendo eShop at least once before 11:59PM EST on August 11th will be eligible for twenty free downloadable games.

The first ten games Ambassadors will be able to download will be from the NES Virtual Console and include Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda. For the second half, Nintendo has announced that Game Boy Advance games will become available and that Ambassadors will be able to choose from ten as well including the games Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey Kong.

While the NES Virtual Console games will be made available later for the general public to purchase, Nintendo has stated the GBA VC games will not be in the foreseeable future.
