Earlier this week, website Bundle compiled a list of U.S. cities that spend the most money per person on video games. They accomplished this by analyzing sales data from places like GameStop and Steam, then comparing the amount spent to an estimate of the national average. The winner, by a huge margin, was Huntington, NY, which spent over four times the national average; the closest competition was North Hempstead, NY, which only spent 2.32 times the national average. Here are the top 10 cities, in order:
1. Hungtinton, NY (4.08x national average)
2. North Hempstead, NY (2.32x national average)
3. Laredo, TX (2.23x national average)
4. Chesapeake, VA (2.12x national average)
5. Modesto, CA (1.99x national average)
6. Pittsburgh, PA (1.99x national average)
7. El Paso, TX (1.97x national average)
8. Cincinatti, OH (1.95x national average)
9. Buffalo, NY (1.88x national average)
10. Virginia Beach, VA (1.82x national average)
You can read more about their methods here, as well as look at a fuller list of the top 50 cities.
What the heck are Huntington residents doing that makes them spend that much on video games?
