In celebration of the upcoming release of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land on the Wii, Nintendo is offering kids a chance to discover the superheroes within them. In a challenge inspired by Kirby’s new Super Abilities in the upcoming Wii game, youngsters can design and draw their own Super Abilities, and then submit them to Nintendo. Several submissions will be featured in a gallery on Nintendo’s site, and the best submissions will be present at a Nintendo-sponsored event at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach in California on October 27.
At the event, Nintendo will unveil a Starlight Fun Center, a mobile gaming unit for use by the hospital’s younger patients, co-sponsored by Starlight Children’s Foundation. Patients at the hospital will be able to come by and make their own Kirby drawings, as well. The Fun Center is one of over 7,000 that Nintendo and Starlight have placed in children’s hospitals around the country.
Anyone wishing to participate can download a coloring sheet here, and submission instructions are available at the same page. Scholastic, who is co-sponsoring the contest, also has a Kirby quiz available on their site, which will tell takers what Kirby Super Ability suits them best.
This is an interesting way of cross-promoting an upcoming game and a charitable event by Nintendo. I might enter if I could draw.
