New Zelda: Skyward Sword Media Brings the Heat

With the end of another week, Nintendo has seen fit to release more media regarding The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which launches next month. They provided some text descriptions for parts of Link’s adventure, as well as two new trailers and a number of screenshots. Some of the information below contains story spoilers and has been marked as such.

Nintendo’s press release revealed the existence of a new item, and a new mini-game. The Mogma Mitts allow Link to dig through soft patches of ground, similar to the Digging Mitts; these new mitts, however, let Link access underground tunnels as opposed to just finding items. Additionally, when Link returns to Skyloft, he can play a mini-game called Pumpkin Pull; this game has Link shooting down flying pumpkins that act as targets.

The following paragraph contains story spoilers; read at your own risk. As Link travels through Eldin Volcano in search of Zelda, he eventually comes across the Fire Sanctuary that sits on the volcano’s summit, which is where he acquires the Mogma Mitts.  Later, however, he is blown away by an eruption.

The following trailer contains minor story spoilers. This video shows Link arriving at the second major ground area, and dealing with its harsh conditions.

The Legend of Zelda: Sword will be released on November 20, 2011.

This new information seems fairly standard to me, but I like the inclusion of the mini-game. What’s making Skyward Sword stand out for me is all the extra content they’re packing in.
