Nintendo Digs Up More Zelda: Skyward Sword Info

It’s Friday once again, and Nintendo is celebrating the end of the work week with more information about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Most of the information below contains spoilers, and story spoilers will be marked as such.

Two items from Zelda‘s past will be returning in Skyward Sword. The Claw Shots from Twilight Princess will be discovered in a new area of Hyrule, and allow Link to grapple from place to place in order to get to otherwise unreachable areas; this item was revealed in an older Skyward Sword trailer. The other returning item is the Gust Jar, first seen in The Minish Cap; this jar can generate bursts of wind, which can stun enemies or blow away loose elements like sand. Both of these items are found in the area discussed below.

The following paragraph contains spoilers for the story of Skyward Sword. After exploring Eldin Volcano, Link finds himself in the vast Lanayru Desert, a dry and barren land populated by some Gorons and a few other folks. Inside this desert is the Lanayru Mining Facility, where Link will ride mine carts and navigate other mining equipment. The final boss is Moldera, a giant scorpion. Link also returns to Lanayru Desert later in the game, sailing across the sands in order to find a hidden ship.

The video below contains spoilers for the newly revealed location. This trailer shows the Claw Shots in action, along with other elements from the game’s new location.

I really like the look of the newly revealed dungeon; it’s a bit of a different aesthetic from previous Zelda areas.
