I was hoping for a really strong showing from Dark Souls, but I guess it’s pretty hard to compete with a month like this; #6 is nothing to sneeze at, though. I’m also very impressed at the Arkham City numbers, as that’s another game I was hoping would perform well. There were no Nintendo exclusives on the list, but I’m not sure Kirby’s Return to Dream Land or Professor Layton and the Last Specter have the selling power to make a list like this. I have no doubt that Skyward Sword is going to show itself next month, though.
I’m pleased at the 3DS sales so far, though I think it’s going to pick up even further this holiday season, and next year. The glut of games that will be coming out is certain to make heads turn. Meanwhile, I think the lower price of the Wii will also attract buyers over the next month or two.
This is good news no matter how you look at it.
I Think Nintendo is making this a little more than what it really is though. Basically Nintendo is saying “hey look 3DS is going to do better in its first year than DS did in its first year.. this proves that the 3DS will do better than the DS in general”… I dont know the future.. but if i had to guess i would say this will not happen. This does prove that 3DS is not a failure like a lot of articles have been TRYING to say it will be and also shows that the 3DS will be a popular hand held. Also, it proves that NOT everyone likes to game on a phone.
Will Phones take over handheld market? No.. but will it make a huge dent.. yes. I’m not really a fan of Phone gaming .. but when it comes to the very casual market .. phones are sadly the future .. i mean i know 50 year old’s that buy/play cheap video games on their phone… and i cant imagine a 54 year old buying a 3DS..
again this is not a bash on Nintendo or 3DS… Nintendo always figure out a way to take our money (which i do gladly most of the time) but just stating the obvious.. more smartphone sin the world = more people willing to only play game son their phone for pure convenience.
