The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization has released another game on their site, this time bashing Mario and the recent release of Super Mario 3D Land. In Mario Kills Tanooki, the player bounds over obstacles for coins. After awhile, the character jumps on Mario, who is wearing the bloody skin of a raccoon on his head as a sort of cape. A message pops up with a word of censored profanity directed at Mario:
Another screen details your time as well as your best time.
Previous to this release, PETA has released a game in the same vein as Super Mario Bros. entitled, “New Super Chick Sisters!”
Do they even know that Mario doesn’t skin or anything to get the suit that’s magic?
*UPDATE* Nintendo has commented on the situation according to Eurogamer:
Mario often takes the appearance of certain animals and objects in his games. These have included a frog, a penguin, a balloon and even a metallic version of himself. These lighthearted and whimsical transformations give Mario different abilities and make his games fun to play. The different forms that Mario takes make no statement beyond the games themselves.

Um. In Peta’s other game, a chicken mc nugget game, the nugget skins
a kitten. what’s their response to that?
In one of the levels you can get the sea kitten suit which gives you the ability to swim and shoot hair balls, which is actually kind of cool.
