Nintendo Direct Japanese Presentation Summary: 12/26/11

Yesterday, Nintendo released another Nintendo Direct presentation, aimed at Japanese gamers. The presentation mostly consisted of previews of upcoming 3DS games, while some Japanese release dates were announced as well. Here are some highlights from the presentation:

-Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land and Monster Hunter 3G have all shipped a million units, and will soon have sold that many as well.

-For the Wii, Iwata showed off Kiki Trick, an audio-based minigame collection from the makers of the WarioWare franchise. This game will be available in Japan on January 19.

-Kid Icarus: Uprising is going through the final tuning stages, and will be released on March 22 in Japan. The multiplayer allows for three-on-three battles through local wireless play or over the Internet.

-Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy, Rhythm Thief R, Beyond the Labyrinth and Resident Evil Revelations will all be released in Japan in January.

-New Love Plus, Tekken 3D Prime Edition, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Harvest Moon Hajimari no Daichi will see Japanese release in February.

-March releases include Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games on 3DS, Metal Gear Solid 3D, Hatsune Miku and Future Stars Project Mirai, Girl’s RPG, Dynasty Warriors VS, and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.

-Later in 2012, Japan will see Fire Emblem: Kakusei and Bravely Default, among other titles.

-Starting next month in Japan, Nintendo will have monthly contests looking for the best 3D pictures, with Nintendo gifts for the winners. A number of 3DS demos and videos from the presentation will be available for Japanese download today.

A recording of the presentation can be viewed here, though it is in Japanese.

I’m hoping that other territories are going to get playable demos as well; that would definitely convince me to buy games I wouldn’t look at otherwise.
