Although the device is targeted more towards the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 crowd, Hauppauge’s newly released HD PVR Gaming Edition is capable of recording Wii gaming sessions as well. The physical unit is identical to the HD PVR the company sells, except for a “gamer” green light instead of blue circling the top. What’s different in this unit is the fact it comes with a cord that contains all three console connections, including Wii.
When connecting any system up, there is a convenient pass-through that should be used in conjunction to simply plugging in your video cables to the box. This is because when playing, there is considerable lag on the video output when connected to the computer only. While trying out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, I found myself dying more than I’d like due to a 1-2 second lag.
The software included will allow you to capture video easily along with screenshots. You won’t have to have the latest and greatest computer to capture either. Simply provide a dual-core processor of 2.0GHZ or above and the HD PVR does all the work inside the box and delivers it to your computer via USB 2.0. Even though Hauppauge has user-friendly software, it’s apparent that the Wii inclusion was an afterthought. This fact is cemented by the lack of a simple Wii recording option in their software. While both the 360 and PS3 enjoy a simple recording profile in the software, Wii is absent from the list. I was told, however that it’s still possible to do, it just isn’t a preset.
For those who want to record their Wii gaming sessions and don’t have a beefy computer to run other products, this may be a decent option. The HD PVR Gaming Edition retails for $199 and is available now.

I have this Hauppauge . it works good until you hit hardware excelration it locks up on you. or if you decide to record game footage direct from older console’s like NES the frame rate will studer horribly.
Over all it a good recorder though . purchased mine on sale and got a 50 dollar rebate back from it.
