According to a report by Andriasang, purchasing a special edition Metal Gear Solid 3DS bundle will be harder than usual. Not only is the system only being sold in Japan through the Konami Style online store, but it is only being sold via raffle. Any would-be purchasers will need to enter their names into the drawing, and only those who names are drawn will be given the opportunity to buy the system at the standard price of 22,980 yen ($299).
In addition to the game and the special snakeskin 3DS, the bundle will come with special double-sided art pieces, shown here; click on either image to enlarge them. The bundle is set to release in Japan on March 8, while North American gamers will be able to play Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D on February 21.
I’ve heard of sales by raffle before, but they’re certainly not something I see frequently. I guess it’s a pretty fair way of distributing the system, though it makes me wonder if it has any chance of a North American release.
