Nintendo Reveals New Kid Icarus: Uprising Multiplayer Modes

New multiplayer modes have been announced for the upcoming 3DS title Kid Icarus: Uprising. One of the modes highlighted is known as Light vs. Dark, where two teams of three players try to defeat the opposing team in combat; similarly, the Free For All mode has all six players battling all the others, trying to come out on top. Both of these games can be played via local wireless, or online through an Internet connection; computers will fill out the roster if necessary, and settings like match duration and team handicaps can be customized prior to battle.

Nintendo also shed some light on new weapon mechanics. Both single-player and multiplayer modes can reward the player with new weapons, which can be fused together to create even more powerful weapons. Players can also share their weapons via StreetPass by making a copy of it into a Weapon Gem. Other players can receive these Weapon Gems and turn them into weapons by spending hearts, or they can be fused together as well, which also costs hearts.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is slated for a March 23 release. Customers who pre-order the game at Gamestop, Best Buy or Amazon.com will receive a free download code for 3D Classics: Kid Icarus on the Nintendo eShop.

Kid Icarus: Uprising looks like it’s shaping up to be a really cool game; I can’t wait to get my hands on it again.
