XSEED Games, publisher of titles such as Little King’s Story and Valhalla Knights, announced today that they were partnering with Nintendo to bring the RPG title The Last Story to North American shores. One of three games highlighted by Operation Rainfall, The Last Story follows the story of Zael, a former mercenary trying to turn his life around as a knight, but who instead finds himself embarking on an epic adventure.
“I am very happy to be able to confirm that The Last Story will be released in North America,” stated Hironobu Sakaguchi, CEO of Mistwalker, the studio responsible for developing the game. “XSEED Games has a reputation for bringing high-quality JRPGs to America, and I’m sure they will do a great job with this release too.”
The Last Story is slated for release in summer 2012.
I’m glad to see that these epic RPG titles are finally coming to the Wii, but it definitely feels like too little too late at this point. These titles could have given the Wii some momentum a couple of years ago.
