Earlier today, Disney Interactive that they were developing Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two for Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This game will allow players to play as both Mickey Mouse and his olden predecessor Oswald the Lucky Rabbit; two players will be able to play at the same time, with drop-in, drop-out multiplayer. The game also features a number of original musical numbers, significant amounts of voice acting, and interactive instrumentation that changes depending on how the player goes through the game.
“In the first Disney Epic Mickey title, fans embraced Mickey as a true video game hero and welcomed Oswald back into the Disney family with open arms,” said John Pleasants, co-president, Disney Interactive Media Group. “Now, as the vision for the Disney Epic Mickey franchise advances, fans and gamers across all platforms will experience completely new ways to embrace the immeasurable vault of Disney characters and attractions.”
A trailer for the game was released earlier this week, and can be found below.

It sounds like they’re trying to make Epic Mickey 2 closer to a Disney feature film than the original was, which is an interesting idea. I think there’s a ton of potential in this franchise, and I want Warren Spector to bring it out.

My only concern is that the Wii one gets gimped now that 360 and PS3 have it. Which will suck since it originated on Wii and I feel that’s it’s home console (despite some camera issues, it was fantastic). I could also see them rerelasing the first one on 360 and PS3 in HD so people who don’t have a Wii could experience it. Unless they’re designing 2 with the intention that a lot of people may not have played the first one *shrugs*.
And now I need to decide which system I want it for. 360 or Wii. Maybe I’ll get both. I can see the 360 having better camera control and visuals overall, but I feel obligated to get it on the Wii since as I said, that’s it’s home console in my mind.
Also, why no mention of Illusion of Power for 3DS? Fairly certain that’s been confirmed.
I totally agree, epic mickey originated on wii, when the wii has a multi console title they always bash on the wii ver cause of the graphics, epic mickey is a fantastic game and bye the way, i would get it for both the ps3 and wii but most likely epic mickey 2 on ps3 will require move to play and 360 will require kinect which neither i own, epic mickey 2 should have stayed a wii exclusive, or at least stayed a wii exclusive for a few months and then released it for ps3 and 360, i feel that they are taking attention away from Nintendo by releasing it on multiple consoles, the same thing happened with de blog, de blog great game then they release the sequel, and the wii gets little attention, take the epic mickey 2 trailer for instance i’m pretty sure thats not wii gameplay, same thing happened with de blog 2 the trailer comes out and they focus attention on the xbox 360 graphics
Oh God. I didn’t think of the possibility that EM2 on 360 would have to be played with the kinect. If that’s the case it solidifies my Wii purchase. I own a Kinect and cannot stand it. It’s so stupid and buggy. EM2 on 360 better allow for controller support.
