El Mundo, a Spanish newspaper, recently interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto. Through the translation Eurogamer performed, they learned that Nintendo will be bringing a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U to E3. Nintendo confirmed this by releasing a statement to Eurogamer:
“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year’s E3 Expo. We’ll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date.”
Kotaku also reached out to Nintendo for confirmation and received a response about Wii U Pikmin from Nintendo:
“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June. He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing.”
Nintendo has yet to announce when their E3 press conference will take place, however in past years it has fallen on the Monday prior to the beginning of E3.
