Japanese newspaper Nikkei, which has accurately reported on Nintendo news in the past, has put forth some interesting speculations on the future of Nintendo systems. According to the paper, the 3DS will soon get a redesign that will include a 4.3-inch screen, which is one and a half times the size of the current screen. Nikkei also suggests that the Wii U will be priced at 30,000 yen in Japan upon release, which is approximately $383 in the United States. Neither of these pieces of information have been confirmed by Nintendo, so they should be treated as rumors for now.
UPDATE: Nintendo has commented on the Nikkei story, saying that they did not confirm any facts to Nikkei and that the report is inaccurate.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 3DS redesign sometime soon. A $383 console will never happen in the States, though.

While a 3DS redesign is inevitable- to do it now would be shooting themselves in the foot after all they did help it regain prominence as a portable gaming device.
$383 doesn’t sound like a nice round Nintendo number; if it Does go over 350 US i sure hope its future proof.
Never say Never though… “FIVE-HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE US DOLLARS!….”
