In addition to the titles available below, Nintendo has made VVVVVV their first “Game of the Weekend”, and it is temporarily available at a special price of $4.99. The deal lasts from 9 a.m. PDT on Friday, June 29 until 9 p.m. PDT on Sunday, July 1.
Demo (eShop): Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure
You play as Raphael, a famous Parisian thief known for returning his stolen goods a few days later. To pull off your heists, you’ll have to solve riddles and keep up the beat, using buttons, stylus, and the gyro sensors in the 3DS. This game also offers multiplayer competition and StreetPass functionality. This game will be available in stores on July 10, 2012.
Demo (eShop): Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Sora and Riku return in this newest Kingdom Hearts title. As part of their Mark of Mastery exam, the pair enter the Sleeping Worlds in order to unlock the seven Sleeping Keyholes and become Keyblade Masters. This game introduces new gameplay elements and allows players to recruit Dream Eaters to their team. This game will be available in stores on July 31, 2012.
eShop: Marvel Pinball 3D, $7.99
The creators of Zen Pinball bring famous comic book heroes into the fold, with Marvel Pinball 3D. Play on unique pinball tables based on Iron Man, Blade, Captain America and Fantastic Four. The game includes friend challenges, as well as online leaderboards.
eShop: Bomb Monkey, $4.99
The makers of Mutant Mudds bring a new puzzle game to the eShop. Blocks pile up on the jungle floor, threatening to knock off the monkey that you control. Control the blocks by participating in Blok Bombing, a sport that uses blocks and bombs to keep the pile under control. Several variations on the main game are included.
DSiWare: Flip the Core, $1.99/200 Nintendo Points
You play a character existing before the Big Bang, with the ability to flip between dimensions. This shoot-em-up allows the player to transform the environment around them, turning walls into passages and traps into tunnels.
DSiWare: Escape the Virus: Swarm Survival, $1.99/200 Nintendo Points
In this microscopic title, your job is to make your way through the world, collecting as many pieces of DNA as possible, in order to form the longest chain you can. Collect power-ups such as rocket launchers in order to defeat attacking viruses. In Baby mode, the player takes on the role of a DNA guardian, transporting DNA pieces to safety while avoiding enemies.
I’m going to pick up VVVVVV when it goes on sale, and I’m really interested in Bomb Monkey. Renegade Kid does good work, and Mutant Mudds showed they can handle multiple genres well.
