During their presentation earlier this morning, Nintendo let it be known to the world that the Wii U will launch in the US on November 18th in two different flavors. Each set is detailed below:
Basic Set – $299 (White, 8 GB internal storage)
Console
GamePad
AC Adapter
HDMI cable
Sensor bar
Deluxe Set – $349.99 (Black, 32 GB internal storage)
Console
GamePad
AC Adapter
HDMI cable
Sensor bar
GamePad stand
Console stand
NintendoLand bundled in
COO Reggie Fils-Aime noted that both bundles will not include any Wii Remotes or Nunchuks since many homes already have those accessories. For the percentage of folks out there who don’t, or who sold off their Wii, there will be Wii U branded Wii Remotes and Nunchuks heading to stores in the future.
Pre-orders at a few retailers have begun with more on the way.

Hmm. I think I’ll wait a while. $300 for a console that doesn’t even surpass the current competition is asking a lot.
Hey Andrea! Hope all is well!
I personally think the presentation was great. Sure it could have been a little better but it was definitely the best nintendo direct in a while. Its something similar to THIS.. that should have been shown for E3 2012. The line up looks good.. not amazing but definitely not bad at all. The features also look pretty promising. Nintendo TVii has a lot of potential but only time will tell if the big N implements it effortlessly. The only thing that was sort of bummer was pricing. I mean ill admit it 300-350 is still a great price for what WiiU may offer especially when compared to the PS3 and XBOX360 prices when they were released. But I guess i paid too much attention to all the “250-300 Max” price point rumors. Also , the only thing i disagree is only including nintendo land in the 350 dollar deluxe edition. This should have come standard just like wii sports did with the wii. The truth is, im certainly going to purchase one, but id like to wait until mid-next year to see if they do any price drop ala the 3DS…
regards,
Victor M
I don’t see it as expensive. I look at the last gen stuff and their price points and this seems reasonable to me.
The $350 one seems the way to go. I’m not buying one at launch, I learned my lesson from the 3ds, but If I was, I’d get that one. Plus you get a subscription to Nintendo’s paid online, so you get 10% off games when you buy them.
My co-workers are hyped for the Wiiu.
I must say, I’m rather impressed with the selection of games, but we all know the downsides of getting too hyped, like when the Vita 1st came out, and people were bashing the 3ds, because the Vita had so many games, and now the Vita has almost nothing along with little 3rd party support. I’ll wait a year and see (or when smash bros comes out, whichever 1st).
That’s fair. I personally wasn’t blown away with the initial launch of both DS and 3DS. DS obviously turned out awesome and 3DS is still building its own library of neat titles.
I’ll be getting a Wii U day one because I have to, but it would be nice to be able to sit back and wait.
I actually pre-ordered the Wii U: Deluxe Set. If you think about it this way… The Deluxe Set isn’t too bad if you were already planning on buying Nintendo Land which is suppose to be 59.99$ anyways. You’ll be saving 9$ from the game, get 32gb/gamepad stand/console stand for free and 10% discount on downloaded games. If you don’t plan on buying Nintendo Land, I’d go with the Wii U: Basic Set and spend that 50$ on a different game.
Plus my co-workers were talking about it, and they said, since you can use a HDD, Even if you bought the basic version and an HDD for $50, it would still be about the same price.
