It’s obvious from the get-go that Crayola Treasure Adventures is a kid orientated affair. Besides the colorful palette that is to be expected when dealing with crayons, is the simplicity of the game. There are two main things to do, Adventure and Coloring Book. Adventure mode is based upon three mini games - jigsaw puzzles, connect the dots, and coloring. The point to these is to help the Red Crayola crayon get back the stolen colors so all is well in the land. While simple, they’re a fun way to unlock other things to color in with Coloring Book mode. You’ll meet a handful of different beings on your way, but not too many this mode seems extremely short.

The other mode is probably the best feature considering the franchise. Choosing the Coloring Book option allows the player to pick one of over one hundred objects to decorate. Whether it’s a sheep or treasure chest, there’s always something to color.
In the Coloring Book section, it’s easy for one to color. Simply touch a point with whichever tip and color you want and watch how you’ll be able to look like you’re scribbling. This is because once a point is touched, it will not allow you to color outside of the bounding box until you lift up the stylus and choose a new section. Unfortunately, there’s no way to save what you’ve colored, so as soon as the DS goes off, it’s gone.
