The basic concept for this game is the same as any other Metroid title: explore large world, solve puzzles, find upgrades to your suit, unlock new areas, etc. There have been no drastic changes to the core game; this really isn’t much of a problem, however, as the core game remains entertaining through this third entry. The environmental puzzles, as well as the Morph Ball sequences, are tricky but satisfying to finish, and the combat is as good as it’s ever been, if not better.
There are a couple changes in this title, however, which make it generally more entertaining. In Corruption, you’re no longer limited to a single world; you’ll be exploring several planets throughout your adventure. Additionally, Samus is no longer all by herself as she explores, per se; she’ll maintain regular contact with the Federation to obtain various objectives and hints. The latter change allows for some generally more complex goals and sequences, including escort missions and a fetch quest among other things.
